Private Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers

Recent years have shown a large increase in the demand for private drug and alcohol treatment. Our helpline receives close to 200 calls a week from people  with drug and alcohol addiction problems. There seems to be waiting lists for government funded drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs treatment. The waiting list seems to be from one to six months. This is for general rehab centers and not necessarily detox centers, as detox rehab is of shorter duration. There are other options to get admitted immediately to a treatment center as well.

There are many locations available to help with drug addiction.

They include:

  • Over 60 residential drug rehab programs
  • 75 outpatient drug and alcohol facilities
  • 17 different settings of detox treatments
  • 26 aftercare programs
  • 830 Alcoholic Anonymous meeting locations
  • 222 Narcotics Anonymous meeting locations

We are aware that with all these drug and alcohol treatment options available it can be very hard to decide which the right one for your needs is. Which  drug rehab center is the one for you? All you need to do is give us a call and we can help you answer that question!

Lets take a specific example where a private drug program could be needed.

Oxycontin, a painkiller who has tripled in use in the past five years, is becoming such a common addiction that the Ontario Health ministry is concerned and has been looking into possible solutions. Not all public rehabiliation programs are ready to handle this new addiction and private programs can be a very good solution.

The abuse of prescription painkillers has risen quite a bit in the last decade. It is important to note that a large amount of painkiller addicts become addicts because they have actual physical pain. Many of these individuals become so hoping to relieve their suffering. Sadly, it is very hard for these people to convince doctors that they are truly in pain as they tend to be categorized as drug addicts and they are often treated badly in healthcare establishments, pharmacies, and by others in general. The adverse effects of the painkillers on the drug abuser is not only harsh on the addict, but can be troublesome for their family and friends as well. This explains the health ministries growing interest in Drug Rehab centers.

The recommendation to help a person enter recovery is to find somewhere safe that will help them throughout the detox process, followed by an active treatment plan. Many centers are also incorporating the use of alternative therapies and some even focus on a complete healthcare method, which seeks to heal the body, mind, and spirit of the hurt individual.

A person who has used drugs and/or alcohol for months or years needs to recover physically through a balanced diet and steady exercising. They will also need to learn new ways of thinking and acting. Their spiritual life should be examined and made more active as well, no matter what their religious views. As Ontario continues to see a rise in the need for private treatment of alcohol and drug abuse, the province will also need to rise its drug rehab personnel and facilities. Following this, an increase in the amount of programs that are available for ex-addicts will be necessary after their release from drug rehab. They need active resources and support that can help them at all times in life.
